Summer Blooming Flowers 8-20-2013

The next week has us marked for 85F days and 63F nights… No rain though. We’re not in a drought situation and well established plants are in no danger. There is plenty of dew in the morning for that little H2O share. Again, this weather is paradise in my mind!

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ – Still blooming strong.
Looks great with the still blooming red roses.

Daucus carota – Carrots
This was my first harvest!

We had so many problems with cute fuzzy bunnies this spring. After the first round of carrots didn’t germinate (so what I thought), I replanted. Then round 2 was a ‘fail’, I looked into it a bit more, digging up the seeds to see if they germinated, and yes, they were eaten. Damn rabbits! We ‘took care of’ the rabbits, replanted seeds again and finally got something to show for our efforts. Yeah! These were tasty in my husbands ‘Chicken Marengo’ recipe. I’ll share that later.

It will eventually turn all red, but the animals tend to take it before I can capture it!
