Summer Blooming Flowers 9-8-2014

Happy Monday to you all!

This is my 400th post! Wow.

Click HERE to see what was blooming last year!

Odd seed heads, burr types. Didn’t get the rest of the plant to ID…

Cornus mas – Cornelian cherry

These fruits were pretty bitter right now. Of course I had to give it a bite.

Pretty skies!

Hibiscus syringes – Rose of Sharon

Lythrum salicaria – Purple Loosestrife
Impatiens capensis – Impatiens capensis, the orange jewelweed, common jewelweed, spotted jewelweed, spotted touch-me-not or orange balsam.

Sadly, I love the color combo.

Silene latifolia – White champion

Pycnanthemum virginianum – Virginia mountain mint

I could be wrong…

Centaurea stoebe – Spotted knapweed

Elaeagnus umbellata – Autumnberry or Autumn olive

These are invasive, however very edible. I found a great site about foraging and this guy wrote a great article about these berries.

Ageratina altissima – White snakeroot

Sassafras albidum – sassafras, white sassafras, red sassafras or silky sassafras
