Happy Thursday Everyone!!
Click to see what was blooming in 2014 and blooming in 2013.

Verbena hastata ~ Blue vervain

Torillis japonica ~ Japanese hedge parsley

Geum canadensis ~ White geum

Tanacetum vulgare ~ Tansy

Tansy’s generic name, Tanacetum, is from the Greek word athanasia, “immortality”; in times past, coffins were filled with tansy to preserve corpses precisely because the flowers do not wilt when dried.

Verbena urticifolia ~ white vervain

Convolvulus arvensis ~ Field bindweed

It has a few variations to it. This again is how plant breeders find different varieties of a species of plant. If they get the seeds of this variegated one and it grows true with the variegation, it’s off to the patent house for that breeder! Too bad these are weeds. wa-wa-wa…

Verbascum thapsus ~ great mullein or common mullein

Silene latifolia ~ white campion

  1. Tansy, I like like very much and it grows good. Common Mullein grows wild in my yard and comes up here and there. I leave it untouched till it falls over. Sends up its stalk first year and blooms the second year and then dies but has many tiny black seeds that I spread around the yard-sometimes. 🙂
