Summer Blooming Flowers 8-3-2016

Lilium lancifolium ~ Tiger Lily    ||    Cichorium intybus ~ Common chicory. It’s a coffee substitute, if left trapped in the wild without a Starbucks…

Ipomoea purpurea ~ Morning glory   ||    Lythrum salicaria ~ Purple loosestrife. Both of these plants don’t play nice in Illinois =-(

Monarda didyma  Native, wild beebalm   ||   Eupatorium perfoliatum ~ Common Boneset

A Rudbeckia, but which one…..    ||   Prunella vulgaris ~ Self heal

I’m not sure who this butterfly is, but I’m sure a post will follow in the cold, lean post months of the winter!

Liatris aspera ~ Rough blazing star    ||   Breck and a Leadplant

I’m not sure    ||    Saponaria officinalis ~ bouncingbet

Calamintha nepeta ssp. glandulosa ‘White Cloud’ ~ Catmint

  1. Love your ID’s. I was going to try to ID the butterfly which looks like it might be a Wood Satyr. Something very odd happens when I click on the image to look at it larger, it opens in a new window the same small size and then I can’t get back to your post. You need to get WP tech support to sort it out for you. I tried to show you how before but it isn’t working 😦

    • I will have time this weekend to look into it. I set it to open into a new window, so you can’t hit ‘back’ from there.
It’s got to be the size I’m uploading at, which is small. I will load a new post, from my phone at the larger size and let you know to look for it.
You nailed the flutterby! I will edit 😃

      • Mine does that too but leaves a tab open with the post open. Yours closes the tab and left only the picture. No way to get back to the post. Wierd! Plus there is no reason t have it open in a new page if it is still a very small image — the same size.

      • With mine it opens a slightly larger (1200 px wide) image in a new page and leaves the post open in another tab. Yours closes the post, leaving only the image open, which is not any bigger than what was in the post (about 500 px wide). I am trying to describe what happens.

          • You need to upload larger that 500 px. I recommend 1200 px, it resizes smaller for the blog page then will open a little larger, but not too large. As for the tab closing for the blog and my back button not working when i click on an image that is a problem for WP support.

            • So, I’m at work now (shhh, don’t tell the boss!) and I’m flying around my blog.
I don’t have any problems with photos opening into another window (abeit small @ 500 px) and leaving the ‘old’ tab open. Pretty odd.
I will check it out on my ‘puter tonight. Maybe it’s an intermittent issue.. only happening with certain posts? Those issues are a pain as it’s usually not just one thing. I’ll get back to you. Thank you again for pointing this stuff out to me!!! =-)
