Oranges in December

I just looked in the mirror
And things aren’t looking so good
I’m looking California and feeling Minnesota, oh yeah….

It’s been a long winter, however not as bad as others. Global warming had our average temperature at 32F/0C for most of January. Usually February is pretty cold… Let’s hope not =-)

Have a wonderful Monday!

      • Did you know: Jewish Law specifies that we are not to take fruit from a tree (including woody vines like grapes) until the tree has had its third birthday?

We also celebrate the statutory Birthday of the Trees, which happens on the 15th of the Hebrew month Shvat. This year it happens on the 11th of February, which is this coming Saturday! We have a wonderful ritual of eating fruits from certain special “fruit groups,” and of course drinking 4 cups of wine πŸ˜€

        • That’s an interesting law! My mind goes wild with why it is a law… to give nature a chance? not be greedy? πŸ˜‹
Many times trees (grown from seed) won’t produce fruit within 3 years, so is an easy law to uphold.
I’d love to celebrate the trees! I did not know they had a special day 😍 I will certainly celebrate with some wine!
I love the celebrations and respect the Jewish faith has for nature. I’d be Jewish, if it wasn’t for the whole bacon issue… 😣

  1. February here is usually our hottest month, but so far most days we have a cool wind. Yay! So maybe your February won’t be so cold after all? πŸ™‚
Is the lovely little orange tree in your house or back where you holidayed in the sun?

    • Thank you! I gave it to my hubby when we moved in 11 years ago. It was a single stick, about 2 feet long. It didn’t bloom or have oranges for 8 years. I thought it was broken πŸ˜‰ Glad we didn’t give up! It will bloom soon and fill my space with sweet smells. Mmmm!
